Service & Volunteering

Service to the community is an important part of Boy Scouts. Service hours must be completed in order to advance to certain ranks and to complete certain Merit Badges. Service Project opportunities, through Troop activities and Eagle Scout projects, will be provided to scouts throughout the year. In addition, scouts may seek out their own service opportunities, but should obtain approval from the Scoutmaster, an Assistant Scoutmaster or a Merit Badge Counselor before they complete the hours.
Volunteer opportunities are available through the organizations such as:
- Volunteer San Diego – Programs that help meet community needs.
- San Diego Food Bank – Help a family or individual in need.
- San Diego Special Olympics – Volunteer to coach Special Olympics athletes
- Sierra Club – The San Diego Canyon Campaign – Working to Protect San Diego’s Canyons
